Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe on Thursday approved the recruitment of 27 pharmacists to enhance healthcare service delivery in the state.

Mr Buni, in a statement in Damaturu by his Director General, Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, said the approval was in fulfilment of a request for more pharmacists by the state Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency, YODMA.

“The Agency requested for recruitment of the pharmacists to have the required skilled manpower for effective services and additional improvement in healthcare delivery in the state,” he said.

He directed that the 23 pharmacy graduates be placed on CONHESS GL- 9 Step 2 while the four Pharmarcy technicians placed on CONHESS GL-7 Step 2.

Mr Buni said the recruitment was in tandem with his administration’s drive to make healthcare delivery accessible and affordable to the citizenry.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that YODMA was established by the Buni-led administration in 2019, to procure drugs and medical consumables for onward sales and distribution to healthcare centres across the state.
