Mr Buratai, a Lieutenant General, created the unit to further enhance security in parts of 1 Division Nigerian Army’s area of responsibility.

Daura town is the country home of president Muhammadu Buhari and the newly-created army unit was named after the president as Fort Muhammadu Buhari Forward Operation Base Daura, Katsina State.

The establishment of the new unit, said the army’s public relations director, Sani Usman Kukasheka, was part of the implementation of the Nigerian Army approved Order of Battle 2016 (ORBAT 2016) by the Army Council.
