Buratai inaugurates 20 staff quarters in Army University, Biu

The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai on Tuesday inaugurated 20 intermediate staff quarters at the Nigerian Army University, Biu, NAUB, Borno.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Buratai said that all the quarters were 3-bedroom apartments, fully furnished with air conditions.

“This is the first in the series of accommodation to be developed for the university.

“The institution is the youngest university in the country and as you are aware, on Oct. 30, 2018,  the ground breaking ceremony was performed  by President Muhammad Buhari, represented by the Minister of Education.

“But today, we have reached a milestone where we have 20 fully furnished apartments for the staff of the university,” he said.

According to him, a number of projects are still ongoing and in the next three months, many will be completed.

He commended the efforts of private individual, cooperate organisations and government agencies, for their contribution towards the development of the institution.

Mr Buratai, a lieutenant-general, said that the first set of students were about completing their first semester.

In his remarks, Prof. David Malgwi, Vice Chancellor of the university, thanked Mr Buratai for his efforts in ensuring the development of the university.

He commended him for ensuring that the best of furniture and equipment were installed in the quarters for the comfort of the staff.

Mr Malgwi urged the beneficiaries to embrace the doctrine of good maintenance culture for the facilities to last long.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Chief of Army Staff also laid the foundation stone for the construction of Junior staff quarters.

He was assisted by the Emir of Biu, Umar Mustapha Aliyu.
