The Chief of Army Staff Tukur Buratai has revealed the amount of money Nigeria so far lost to Boko Haram, saying N2.6 trillion have been lost.

Mr Buratai said the amount was the total cost of physical and durable assets destroyed by the sect.

Mr Buratai, a lieutenant-general, was represented by the chief of civil-military affairs, Nuhu Ambazo, as guest speaker at a seminar organised by the Institute for Development Research and Training, IDR&T, of the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria.

He said the country had become a battle field where incessant ethno-religious and political crises occur rapidly.

According to him, the abundant natural and mineral resources in the country ought to have brought peaceful coexistence.

The instrument, which was supposed to be used for sustainable development, was conversely being used for reconstruction purposes.

The Vice Chancellor of ABU, Ibrahim Garba, described the occasion as part of academic activities of the university.
