The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has commended the governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, for embarking on the renovation of Nigerian Army Barracks in Bama, Borno State.
A statement by spokesman for the Nigerian Army, Sani Usman, said the rehabilitation work has begun on Tuesday.
“The Chief of Army Staff wish to note with great appreciation Governor Kashim Shettima’s consistent support to the Nigerian Army over time.
“He particularly wish to thank Governor Shettima for his unrelenting support to Operation LAFIYA DOLE, which assisted in the defeat of the Boko Haram terrorists and the kind gesture of the Borno State Government in providing land for the newly established Nigerian Army University in the State.
“Lieutenant General Buratai regards the commencement of renovation works in Bama Barracks as timely as it would provide a more conducive environment for the troops to settle and discharge their duties of providing security for the entire Bama community and environs,” Mr Usman, a brigadier-general, said.
