Hajara Danyaro, the Special Adviser on Women Affairs to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has expressed optimism that the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, would defeat the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming by-election for the state House of Assembly.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had fixed August 8 for the conduct of bye-election for the Nasarawa Central Constituency, following the death of the member representing the constituency, Suleiman Adamu, who died of COVID-19 recently.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that only two parties, ruling APC and the opposition PDP, have fielded candidates for the election.
Speaking to newsmen in Lafia at the weekend, Ms Danyaro said that the ideology of the people of the state is at variance with that of the PDP.
She, therefore, called on the INEC to ensure a level playing ground for all political parties contesting the in the bye-election.
“I only ask for a level playing field from INEC so that the people of Nasarawa would determine who governs them and also to allow a popular candidate to emerge.
“With a level playing field, APC would be victorious come August 8. PDP has for long left the state because they have nothing to offer to the people of the state.
“I am very optimistic that APC will win the bye-election with the track record of the present administration in the state.
“I am also very optimistic that APC will come out victorious on 8th of August. APC is the only party to vote for as seen in the achievement of our dear President and Governor A.A Sule.
“The performance of APC across the country and our dear state speaks for itself. So I enjoin all and sundry to rally round our candidate for the forthcoming by-election,” the governor’s aide stressed.
