President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met with the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emeifele; the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, and state governors.
The state governors were represented by the Chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum and Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal and Chairman of the APC Governor’s Forum and Kebbi State governor, Atiku Bagudu
Others in the meeting included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Boss Mustapha, and Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the meeting might not be unconnected with the ongoing scarcity of the new naira notes across the country.
Recall that the President had sought a seven-day grace to be able to resolve the hardship being faced by Nigerians following the scarcity of the new Naira notes.
The apex bank had fixed February 10 as the deadline for the old naira notes to cease to be a legal tender in the country.
But many Nigerians have been calling for an extension of the deadline due to the unavailability of the redesigned notes.
