A prominent Islamic scholar and chairman of Kano Council of Imams, Falalu Dan’Almajiri, is dead.
The late Imam died in the early hours of Tuesday in Kano.
Family sources said the funeral arrangements would be announced shortly by the family.
In November 2018, Mr Dan’Almajiri resigned as chairman, governing board of Kano State Pilgrim Welfare Board, citing ill health.
Since the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the country, mass deaths, especially among the elderly, have been recorded in the state.
Although no official conclusion that the deaths are unconnected with the pandemic, there are strong suspicion that the record mortality is linked to the virus.
