The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Faruk Yahaya, has inaugurated an off-grid solar farm for the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command, NACWC, at Giri, Abuja.
The grid would ensure uninterrupted power supply and effective operation of the command.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement on Thursday, said the COAS inaugurated the facility during his maiden visit to the command.
Mr Yahaya also emphasised the need for continuous capacity development amongst personnel in line with his vision to adequately and timely confront the security challenges bedeviling the nation.
He added that the adversaries had also extended their nefarious activities to the cyber domain, hence the need for alternative power source for the command to effectively achieve its mandate.
The COAS expressed satisfaction with the project and seized the opportunity to communicate with troops in the North East theatre of operations, through their Command and Control Centres.
He commended them for their resilience and doggedness in the ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.
Earlier, the Commander, NACWC Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Adamu, expressed appreciation to the COAS for his support to the command, particularly the timely provision of funds for the completion of the solar farm.
Mr Adamu said the facility had boosted the morale of the personnel and would further enhance the operational capability of the command.
