A former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has disclosed that the conscience of those who betrayed him won’t let them sleep well.

Mr El-Rufai stated this while reacting to a post by an X user who wondered why President Bola Tinubu chose to betray him despite his numerous contributions to the success of APC in the polls.

The former FCT minister, however, said he had got over the sad experience and moved on.

He said: “What is unfolding is merely another life experience, @realYusufTukur, and part and parcel of human nature. We have got over it and moved on, but their conscience won’t let them sleep well. Thanks anyway. – @elrufai”

Earlier, the user with the handle @realYusufTukur had alleged that Mr Tinubu and his allies had sought Mr El-Rufai’s support before the election and praised him but later claimed he did not back the president.

“When they were desperately seeking El-Rufai’s support, #officialABAT and his goons were everywhere singing Malam’s praises. Given their penchant for ingratitude, however, they’ve turned around to claim that Malam didn’t even support PBAT. But these testimonies say otherwise,” Mr Tukur wrote.

The user attached an old video of Oyo State Seyi Makinde hailing Mr El-Rufai and some members of the APC for their stance on zoning of the presidency to the South.

Mr Makinde had said in the video, “I must give kudos to governors on the platform of APC. Governors like El-Rufai, governor of Jigawa, Mai Mala Buni, and that of Kogi. They came together within their party and said, For the unity of this country, let’s sacrifice our ambition.

“Let the presidency rotate to the South, so we must give kudos to them. But what happened in our own party is that we were fighting ourselves; I don’t think that is right.”

Responding to the tweet, Mr El-Rufai stated that he had no personal expectations from his political actions, saying the unfolding situation was simply human nature.
