Controversial lawmaker, Gudaji Kazaure, wins APC return ticket

A member representing Kazaure/Roni/Gwiwa/Yankwashi Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, Mohammed Gudaji Kazaure, has emerged winner in the APC primaries held in Kazaure.

Announcing the results on Friday morning, the returning officer, Mohammed Mujaddadi, said Mr Kazaure scored 693 votes to emerge winner, while Mohammed Alhassan got 372 votes to clinch the second position.

Mr Mujaddadi said Kabiru Ahmed got 84 votes for the third position, while Abdullahi Mainasara scored 45 votes for the fourth position.

The controversial lawmaker is famous for throwing banters on the floor of the House, showing open support for President Muhammadu Buhari and making controversial remarks.

One of Mr Kazaure’s controversial remarks was calling against giving “too much power” to women.

“If you give women the opportunity to take over this chamber, they will mess up, Mr. Speaker,” he said on March 8, during a House session to commemorate the International Women Day.

“When women go zigzag, we (men) are the ones to control them. That is why God says they should come under us. They should marry and serve under us.”
