Vice-Chairman, Kafin-Hausa Local Government Area, Jigawa, Dahiru Hamza, on Wednesday commended a member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Danladi Simkan, for building a concrete circle at the Bulangu Roundabout in the area.
Mr Hamza who gave the commendation while inaugurating the structure with decorative flowers in Bulangu town, said it would ease vehicular movement at the roundabout.
He thanked Simkan for his magnanimity and promised to, henceforth, support corps members who initiated projects that had a direct bearing on the lives of the people.
In his remarks, the representative of Bulangu Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Yusuf Ahmed, said the concrete circle had beautified the town, and called on other corps members to emulate Simkan’s selfless service.
He noted that the NYSC scheme had entrenched unity and understanding among Nigerians from different backgrounds.
Responding, Simkan, who teaches in Bulangu Primary School, said the high rate of accident at the roundabout moved him to embark on the project.
He said the project was a donation under his Community Development Service, CDS.
The batch “C” stream one corps member said he sourced the funds for the project from family and personal savings.
