The National Council of State has approved the sum of N27,000 as the new national minimum wage.

The bill on the recommendation is to be transmitted to the National Assembly on Wednesday.

Organisations with less than 25,000 personnel have been exempted from applying it.

According to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, who briefed State House correspondents after the council meeting at the presidential villa, Abuja, said the amount is only the benchmark.
