An Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, Friday, ordered the Federal Government of Nigeria to pay the sum of ₦20 billion to Sunday Adeyemo also known as Igboho as damages for the invasion of his residence.

The court also granted N2 million to Igboho’s counsel, Yomi Aliyu, as a cost for the thorough process in court.

Recall that SSS operatives had carried out a midnight raid on Igboho’s residence in the Soka area of Ibadan Oyo State in early July.

The secret police said that a gun duel that lasted for an hour offered Igboho the chance to escape.

The SSS spokesman Peter Afunnaya said the raid on Igboho’s residence was based on intelligence that he had stockpiled arms in the place.

“On approach to the residence, the team came under heavy gun attack by nine men, suspected to be Igboho’s guards. Six of them were armed with AK-47 guns and three others, with pump-action rifles,” Mr Afunnaya had said in a statement.
