The Jigawa State Ministry of Justice, on Thursday, secured the conviction of a 34-year-old rapist, Ibrahim Yusuf, before the state’s High Court.
According to a statement signed by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Zainab Santali, the presiding judge, Musa Ubale, sentenced Mr Yusuf to 21 years imprisonment.
The statement recalled that Mr Yusuf, who hails from Kangire village in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area, had pleaded not guilty to the charges, but the judge ruled that the prosecution had proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The judge, therefore, convicted Mr Yusuf to another five years in prison for gross indecency and molestation of a minor.
Similarly, Justice Ubale sentenced another 35-year-old rapist, Dauda Mato, to 21-year imprisonment for molesting a minor in the state.
The state ministry of justice had arraigned Mr Mato but denied the charge.
The prosecution led evidence in proof of the allegation.
Similarly, Adamu Abdullahi, 38, of Tandanu Village in Kiri-Kasamma Local Government, was also arraigned for rape before the High Court sitting at Hadejia.
The presiding judge, Ado Yusuf Birnin-Kudu found Mr Abdullahi guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
earlier, the prosecution had called five witnesses, three officials while two non-officials while the defense presented one witness.
