A Chief Magistrate Court, sitting at Gidan Murtala, Kano State, on Wednesday restrained luxurious bus drivers from operating in the state.
The presiding judge, Rakiya Lami-Sani, passed the verdict, following hearing of an ex parte application moved by the state Ministry of Justice, alongside Kano State Road Traffic Agency, KAROTA.
The application, filed by the Principal State Counsel, Mutawakkil Muhammad, and KAROTA Secretary/Legal Adviser, followed the failure of the luxurious bus operators to obey the directive to relocate to Unguwa Uku Motor Park.
Reacting to the ruling, the KAROTA Managing Director, Baffa Babba-Dan’agundi, in a statement on Wednesday by his spokesman, Nabilusi Abubakar, warned that any luxurious bus owner that violates the court order would be dealt with.
According to him, recalcitrance of the bus owners to obey the directive to relocate to the new park necessitated the legal move in order to avoid further crisis.
He noted that the bus owners did not obtain permits to operate in the state.
The managing-director, therefore, urged those involved to comply with the court order for peace and orderliness in the state.
