An unidentified COVID-19 patient in Bauchi State has fled from the state’s isolation centre, the state deputy governor and chairman of the Taskforce and Response Committee on Lassa fever and Coronavirus, Baba Tela, disclosed.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Bauchi State had recorded 83 cases of COVID-19. While six of the cases had been discharged so far, 77 are still active.

Mr Tela, who made the disclosure while giving updates to newsmen in Bauchi Wednesday, said that a manhunt for the patient had begun in earnest.

According to him, the public should not panic as efforts are in place to track down the patient.

”We had at least a case where a patient ran away though we have security personnel at virtually all isolation centres but they are also human, they have to protect themselves against further exposure to avoid more positive cases in the state”.

”Once a patient is diagnosed he/she ought to follow the medication recommended by the doctor, no patient should run away from isolation centre,” the deputy governor disclosed.
