COVID-19: BUK suspends lectures for 1 month

The Management of Bayero University, Kano has suspended all academic activities for a period of one month, following a directive from the Federal Government over the coronavirus pandemic.

Recall that on Thursday, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Education and the National Universities Commission, NUC, had ordered the closure of all schools, including tertiary institutions, effective from Monday, 23rd March, 2020, with a view to containing and preventing the spread of the virus.

A statement signed on Friday by the Secretary, Information and Publication, Lamara Garba, on behalf of the Registrar, directed that all students who are on break as a result of ASUU warning strike are requested not to return to the University.

The statement added that those in Campus should also vacate the hostels and return to their respective homes.

“While staff members are expected to continue with their normal duties, they are however, strongly advised to abide by the safety guidelines and advices (including on social distancing) as issued by professionals.

“They should do whatever it takes to protect themselves and others,” the statement noted.
