The newly established Coronavirus testing centre in Kano State has suspended its operations over lack of testing kits.
Recall that a few weeks ago, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, had established a testing centre for COVID-19 at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, AKTH.
It was gathered that the center would remain closed until new kits are supplied from Abuja.
Speaking with Kano Focus on Wednesday, the Director of the Center for Infectious Diseases Research of the AKTH, Isa Abubakar disclosed that there were pending samples taken at the center.
However, he said, the samples would be taken to Abuja for testing, pending the resumption of operation at the Kano testing center.
The newspaper gathered that during the temporary closure, the laboratory is being fumigated as part of routine bio-safety measures to endure safety of staff and the environment.
