Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle, has ordered the procurement of the Coronavirus testing kits and all the necessary materials needed for the prevention of the virus from spread in the state.
Recall that the state government had earlier closed down all schools in the state, asked workers to stay at home and called on individuals to minimise being in crowds.
Mr Matawalle, in a statement on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Zailani Bappa, also ordered the shutdown of all the state borders effective from Saturday, March 28.
According to the directive, vehicles will not be allowed to enter or leave the state for an initial period of two weeks.
The statement, which quoted the governor while making a statewide broadcast on the pandemic, said Mr Matawalle also “reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that every citizen in the state was protected against the dreaded pandemic”.
According to him, leaders have the responsibility to take every action necessary to prevent this pandemic from becoming an epidemic.
