Following the rise in cases of the COVID-19 infection in Kano State, the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on the virus has resolved to assist in curbing the spread of the virus in the state.

Recall that on Friday evening, the state had recorded six more new cases of the virus, bringing the total number of infection to 27 in the state.

The PTF chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, made this known on Friday during the 14th joint national briefing of the PTF on COVID-19 in Abuja.

Mr Mustapha said: “Recent data released by the NCDC has shown a rise in the number of cases in Kano.

“The PTF will visit the state to evaluate the state of readiness and to guide the authorities in the management of the situation.”

At least six members of the state COVID-19 committee had tested positive for Coronavirus, credible sources confirmed to DAILY NIGERIAN.

The sources said the affected members have already been taken to the state isolation centre at Kwanar Dawaki on the outskirt of the city for treatment.

It was gathered that the discovery has jolted the 14-member committee on Thursday night as the co-chairman of the committee and deputy governor of the state, Nasiru Gawuna, shelved a scheduled meeting of the committee “till further notice”.

“The co-chairman of the committee has tested positive, just as two medical doctors in the committee have tested positive for the virus,” said the source.
