Saudi Arabia on Monday reported 51 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in the Kingdom to 562.
According to a report by Saudi Gazette, the Kingdom had also imposed a curfew order from 7 pm until 6 am for a period of 21 days, effective from Monday evening, to limit the spread of coronavirus in the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Interior called on civil and military authorities to co-operate fully with the measures, Saudi Press Agency, SPA, reported on Monday.
Some workers will be exempt from the curfew. These include employees of the vital parts of the public and private sectors whose work requires continued performance during the prevention period, the government said.
It also includes employees in the security, military and media sectors, and those in relevant health and service sectors.
The ministry urged citizens to stay in their homes, especially during the curfew, and not to leave except in cases of necessity.
Recall that the authorities had on Sunday confirmed 119 new cases of Coronavirus in the country.
According to a report by Saudi Gazette, the new cases have raised the total number of infected persons in the kingdom to 511.
DAILY NIGERIAN recalled that as part of measures to curtail the spread of the disease, the Council of Senior Scholars had on March 17, suspended the daily congregational prayers and the weekly Friday prayer in all mosques across the Kingdom.
However, Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah are exempted from this ruling, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday, quoting a council statement.
The 25th extraordinary session of the council held in Riyadh ruled that all the mosques will remain closed on a temporary basis but the call for prayer (adhan) shall be made as usual, the statement said.
