Zamfara State government has said that arrangements had been made at the state’s borders to ensure that all returnee Almajiris are free from COVID-19 infections.
Mr Matawalle’s Special Adviser on media and communication, Zailani Bappa, quoted the governor as disclosing the arrangement during a state-wide broadcast on Friday.
The arrangement, he said, was in line with the agreement by the Northern Governors’ Forum to repatriate all Almajirs to their states of origin.
The governor described as worrisome how Northern states are still bedeviled with a growing number of Almajiris which, according to him, pose a social problem for the region.
Mr Matawalle, therefore, noted that his administration had procured ventilators, testing kits, and preventive equipment for the two isolation centers in the state.
According to him, ambulances has also been procured for all the General Hospitals in the state, despite having not recorded index case.
“We cannot afford to be complacent, especially with the recent developments in our neighbouring states,” Governor Matawalle added.
