The operatives of the Nigerian Custom Service, Tin-Can Island Command have impounded 1,100 Turkish-made pump action rifles.
This bring to a total of about 2110 pump action rifles so far impounded in Lagos alone in the last seven months.
The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Custom Service, Hameed Ali, who confirmed the seizure in an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Monday, said the weapons were fearfully concealed in a 1×20 ft container.
He said that the weapons were discovered by custom officers who were carrying out 100 percent examination of the container.
Mr Ali, a retired military colonel, said so far, two people have been arrested in connection with the seizure, with one of them an officer with the service.
He said their investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the real owner of the weapons and where they are intended to be deployed in the country.
Mr Ali also said both diplomatic and the global customs organisation would be used by his service in reporting Turkey for proper action against future incidences.
