Customs: Kaduna Area Command generates N16.3bn in 2023

The Kaduna Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has generated the sum of N16,378,179,323.89bn as revenue in 2023.

The area command controller, Tijjani Abe, disclosed this during a press conference with the command’s spokesman, Muhammad Aminu.

Mr Aminu explained that in the year under review, the command collected the sum of N8,341,061,535.00 from import duty, N5,735,176,989.89 from excise duty, and N43,429,781.00 from fees.

According to him, the amount of supersedes N13,432,457,630.68 generated in 2022.

He said, “This means there is an increase of two billion, nine hundred and forty-five million, seven hundred and twenty-one thousand, six hundred and ninety-three Naira, and twenty-one Kobo [N2,945,721,693.21], which translates to a 21.93% increase as against that of the year 2022.”

He stated that for the first time, Kaduna Area Command collected over N2 billion in November and December 2023, a figure which he said had never been collected within the same period since the inception of the command.

The controller also expressed appreciation to the sister security agencies like the military, the police, the SSS and other paramilitary agencies for the robust synergy that exists among them.

He commended the outstanding leadership of the comptroller general of Customs, Bashir Adewale, and his management team for supporting the command to perform its statutory functions maximally.
