Jaafar Jaafar, the publisher/editor-in-chief of DAILY NIGERIAN has been honoured by Youth Alive Foundation, YAF, as one of the recipients of its Integrity Awards.

The 2018 Integrity Awards ceremony would be held on Sunday, December 9 at Chida Event Centre, Utako District, Abuja.

YAF is a duly registered non-governmental organization working to provide a platform that harnesses and nurtures young people through informed, innovative and value driven approaches for personal, community and national development.

With funding from UKAID through DFID, Nigeria’s support to Anti-corruption in Nigeria (ACORN) program, YAF is leading a consortium of partners to implement the Strengthening Youth Participation Against Corruption project (YPAC).

As part of interventions under the YPAC project, YAF is working with stakeholders across sectors to revitalize integrity, good character and other national values as a counterculture or new norm.

It is against this background that YAF organised the Integrity Awards to identify and celebrate deserving citizens and groups who have made outstanding contributions in terms of exemplary acts of integrity, and other inspiring contributions to the fight against corruption in Nigeria, via awards.

“The goal and inherent intention of integrity Awards is not only to reshape norms that sustain corruption, but also to build a new culture and consciousness that highlights integrity, selflessness and patriotism as hallmarks of national growth, development and progress,” YAF’s head programmes, Usen Asanga, said in a letter of nomination to Mr Jaafar.

“By identifying, recognizing and honoring citizens who have shown exemplary integrity and leadership in the fight against corruption in Nigeria, the Integrity Award would serve as an incentive and motivation for citizens, particularly youths, and galvanize them to emulate the values honored in the Awardees,”.

“In the light of the foregoing, we wish to formally inform you that you have been nominated as a recipient of the Integrity Awards, 2018.

“We wish to state that the Call for Nominations were sent out via publications in newspaper and other media platforms from 2nd October, 2018 to 30th October, 2018. All nominations were duly evaluated by an Assessment Advisory Committee and Independent Awards Committee.

“The activities of the Committee were duly monitored by independent Consultants and a consortium of CSO’s under the sponsorship of UKAid through DFID Nigeria, in order to ensure transparency, accountability and due process.

“Please note that no form of monetary gratification is required for this Award as the principal criteria for nomination and selection is simply on the basis of courageous, exemplary, and inspirational acts of integrity. All logistics for attending and participating at the event in Abuja, which includes travel, hotel accommodation and Daily Sustenance Allowance (DSA) will be covered by YAF.”
