Abdussalam Waya, The Director of Dangote sugar, a subsidiary of Dangote Group of Companies, has said that the company is standing on 1.5 million Metric Tons of sugar production annually.
Speaking at Dangote Special Day ceremony at the 39th Kano State Trade Fair on Saturday, Mr Waya said the sugar company was established in 2000 with a 500 Metric Ton capacity.
But, according to him, in 2002, the company expanded its production by acquiring 30,000 hectares Savannah sugar production industry in Numan, Adamawa State.
The director added that the Savannah sugar production industry is currently on 20,000 employment capacity, noting that the company had helped in providing job opportunity to the youth in the area.
“Dangote has also established other sugar industries in Nassarawa, Niger and Kogi States. The Nassarawa State industry produces 100,000 metric ton,” he disclosed
In his remarks, President Dangote Groups, Aliko Dangote, said his company would continue to participate in the annual trade fair with more new innovations and products.
Mr Dangote, represented by Group Executive Director, Government Relations and Strategy, Mansur Ahmed, said the company would establish its pavilion that would house all its products in the next trade fair in the state.
“The Dangote company would be the one that will display all its products in one pavilion next year. We will continue to participate in this trade fair with more innovations and products,” Mr Dangote pointed out.
Earlier in his remark, the President, Kano State Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, KACCIMA, Abubakar Dalhatu, commended Mr Dangote for his immense contribution to the promotion of commercial activities in the state.
According to him, Mr Dangote is one of the major employers of labour in Nigeria, adding that, that is the reason why they had set aside a special day for him to showcase his products at the event.
