Danmodi picks Jigawa APC governorship ticket

The deputy governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, aka Danmodi, has won the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship primary election.

Mr Namadi was declared winner after polling 1,220 votes to beat his distant rival Sabo Nakudu who scored 106 votes.

The senator representing Jigawa North East Senatorial District, Ibrahim Hassan, came third with 58 votes, while Faruku Adamu and Sani Garungabas scored 15 and five votes respectively.

Mr Namadi, a seasoned administrator, is the founder the Namadi, Umar & Co, a chartered account firm based in Kano.

He was from 1993 an Associate member of the Nigeria Institute of Management, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation. In 2010, he became a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

Mr Namadi was also engaged in research works on Sources and Application of Funds, Auditing a Computerized Information System and Community Banking.

As the pioneer Head of Dangote Group Management Accounts Department, the finance expert was responsible for the establishment and foundation laying for the production of monthly management accounts for Dangote Group.

The former commissioner was also a member of the state committee on verification and validation of contracts as well as that of verification and staff audit.
