Daura emir hospitalized over suspected COVID-19

The Emir of Daura, Farouk Umar, has been admitted into the Intensive Care Unit of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, in Kastina State, COVID-19-related symptoms.

Recall that Governor Aminu Bello Masari had sealed the emir’s palace to control the spread of coronavirus, saying that there was no ulterior motive to the decision to quarantine the palace.

The state has about 75 cases of COVID-19 with six persons discharged while five persons had died from the disease.

Sources told The Nation that the monarch was rushed to the hospital after suffering from high blood pressure.

According to the source, Mr Umar was unconscious at the time he was whisked into the hospital.

“It’s true the Emir of Daura was rushed to FMC for high blood pressure, he was unconscious when he was taken to the hospital yesterday night. Some people thought he had passed on,” the source said.
