The governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, has sacked four commissioners from his cabinet, barely two weeks after the governor had announced his defection from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, announced this in a statement on Monday in Calabar, the state capital.
According to the statement, the affected commissioners are Mike Usibe (New City Development), Rita Ayim (Women Affairs), Asu Okang (Information), and Ntufam Etim (Climate Change).
Mr Ayade also relieved five other appointees – Leo Inyambe, Orok Duke, Victor Okon, John Bassey, and Mbeh Agbiji – of their appointments.
While no reason was given for the Governor’s action, he thanked the affected commissioners and appointees for their services to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Ayede had announced his decision on Thursday, May 20, in a meeting with six APC governors who visited him at the Government House.
The APC delegation was led by Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni, who is also the National Caretaker Committee chairman of the APC
