The deposed emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, has occupied the famous Nassarawa royal residence after a failed attempt to occupy the main emir’s palace at Kofar Kudu.
Following the federal government’s plan to smuggle the deposed emir into the palace at night, DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the reinstated emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, immediately returned to the palace in the wee hours of Saturday in company of Governor Abba Yusuf, his deputy Aminu Abdussalam and other government officials.
Backed by armed security personnel, the deposed monarch arrived in Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano at about 1:30am on Saturday.
Sources told this newspaper that after realising that the reinstated emir had occupied the main palace, the deposed emir opted to occupy the Nassarawa royal residence in the city.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that heavy security, including police and soldiers, been deployed to the Nassarawa residence to give protection to the dethroned monarch.
