The Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has said that despite the defection of some lawmakers under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday, the party still maintained its majority stature in the House.

Addressing news in Abuja shortly after the defection of the 37 lawmakers from the ruling APC, Mr Gbajabiamila disclosed that the PDP needed 60 lawmakers to become the majority.

According to him, the APC only lost 37 of its members to the defection, thus still leading with 23 members.

Mr Gbajabiamila who was flanked by several lawmakers of the APC questioned the legality of the defection and hinted that the APC as a Political Party would challenge the action in the court of law.

In his own ruling, Speaker Yakubu Dogara approved the defection of the lawmakers when an objection was raised by the members of the APC, saying that it was only the Court of law that could determine the legality of the matter.
