At least five people have been killed and dozens injured after a heavy downpour and windstorm wreaked havoc in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the incident also left over 100 houses destroyed.
The executive secretary of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, Mohammed Goje, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.
He said search and rescue team of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency SEMA on May 9 responded to a distress call by good samaritans and supported the evacuation of the victims to Yobe State Specialist Hospital.
Mr Goje added that the 41 victims, five of whom died, are from 6 different communities and locations in the state capital and have been evacuated to the hospital.
The areas include Waziri Ibrahim Extension, Abbari Extension, NayiNawa, Pompomari, House of Assembly quarters, Gujba Road and Maisandari.
