Controversial senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, on Saturday declared interest to contest for governorship seat of the state.
According to a Blueprint report, Mr Melaye announced his bid in Ayetoro, Kogi state while formally informing the People Democratic Party, PDP leaders in his constituency.
“By the grace of God I will emerge the next Kogi Governor,” he said.
The lawmaker’s media aide, Gideon Ayodele, also confirmed the development to PUNCH in a telephone chat.
According to him, the party leaders at the meeting asked others interested in the race to inform them within two weeks to enable the party to screen them and prepare for the primary election.
