Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to complete the investigation into former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje over allegations of stuffing of wads of dollars belonging to the state into his pocket.

Mr Yusuf gave the charge on Monday through his Director-General Media and Publicity, Sunusi Bature, while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano.

According to Mr Bature, the governor  was working hard to nsure that those who embezzled the state’s monies, including Ganduje were brought to book through legal means.

On the allegations of diverting funds meant for the state, Mr Yusuf said it was unfortunate that Mr Ganduje to lay such allegations when he was was still under investigation by EFCC for looting public funds.

“Our eight months in office has remarkably outweighed Ganduje’s eight wasted years of political caricature and mal-administration by all standards,” Mr Yusuf said.

According to Mr Bature, the governor is not bothered by Mr Ganduje’s criticisms.

Instead, Mr Bature said, the governor was preoccupied with how to offset public debt of over N300 billion it inherited from Mr Ganduje’s administration.

Mr Yusuf said he was taking bold steps of paying the backlog of pension gratuity for the state pensioners who were not paid by the Ganduje administration in addition to other development projects it was undertaking.
