Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong, has said the state government has not carved any part of the state for use as a cattle colony.

Mr Lalong said this on Friday in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dan Manjang.

The governor debunked stories making the rounds particularly on social media, that he has carved parts of the state to be used as cattle colony.

According to the rumours, parts of Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas have been carved out for the creation of colonies for cattle.

Peddlers of the false reports said the governor was blackmailed by herdsmen to cede the parcels of land or face their wrath.

But the governor stated “unequivocally that this thinking is not only the figment of the imagination of its authors, who want to make political capital out of it, but false, malicious and highly mischievous”,  Manjang said .

Mr Manjang emphatically denied the governor had ceded land for cattle colony and asked the citizens of the state to ignore the rumour mongers “bent on throwing the State into confusion.”

“Cattle colonies are not in the imagination of Governor Lalong,” the statement said.

The governor urged all peace-loving citizens of Plateau to ignore such mischievous information and focus on issues that unite the state rather than those that divide it.
