In its continuation of a raid at various criminal hideouts and black spots in Kano state, the state police command on Thursday said it has arrested 653 suspected criminals with various weapons and intoxicating substances.

Speaking at a press conference in the state, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Wakili, disclosed that the command had also busted a syndicate of suspected armed robbers operating around Sheka, Zoo Road, Tudun Maliki, Tukuntawa and Maidile quarters.

According to him, while 616 suspects were charged to court for prosecution, 37 suspected drug dealers were under investigation.

“The suspects arrested are Auwalu Adamu, Mohammed Suleman and Abdullahi Iliyasu, all of Sheka Quarters. We arrested them with one English pistol and investigation is ongoing,” Mr Wakili said.

The commissioner added that another suspect, Muhammad Sani of Mubi Local Government area of Adamawa State, was intercepted on February 20 with 6750 units of locally made knives.

According to Mr Wakili, the knives were concealed inside a bag and the suspect was to transit to Katsina state with the exhibit for an unspecified mission.

While restarting his commitment to rid the state of criminal activities and drug abuse, Mr Wakili also called on the citizenry to give him maximum cooperation.
