What makes one a hero? Is it the person who is simply admired for his outstanding achievements and courage or a person who has the can-do spirit and encourages others to accomplish the extraordinary.
Whichever way one decides to look at it, a hero will always be one who is celebrated and recognised for exceptional feats or attributes appreciated by the society. This is the message International Breweries Plc, a proud part of the world’s largest brewer, Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev), sponsors of the 2018 World Cup and makers of Hero lager beer “Nigeria’s only red caped beer,” is advocating as the national team gears up for its second and third matches against Iceland and Argentina.
This is particularly significant after a disappointing outing against Croatia in the opening game. Regardless of the initial loss the national team is being charged to display the spirit of a hero as they encounter their opponents in this year’s Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup in Russia.
The King’s Courtyard, Ikpeazu Stadium, Onitsha in Anambra State, was a beehive of activities as over 2,000 patriotic Nigerians gathered to send the biggest support message energy to the Super Eagles and wish them the best in their next two outings.
The desire to show support for the national team was overwhelming as people turned up en masse for the exercise. With the aid of umbrella, the crowd formed and sent out the word ‘Be Fearless’ to the Super Eagles.
The message is intended to inspire pride and support for the national team as they seek to make the country proud. HERO lager epitomises the never-say die Nigerian spirit has charged the Super eagles to break every barrier and go far in the tournament.
According to the Marketing Manager, Hero Lager, Okoli Obum, “ABInBev is throwing its weight behind the current squad to surpass the mark of their predecessors so that they can finish what they started. The journey began with the US ’94 squad but we hope get to the semifinals of 2018 world cup. And if we fail to win it now, we know that heroes never quit; we will keep forging ahead till we bring home the world cup medal.”
