A group of students of the EbonyLife Creative Academy, ELCA, have released a short film project titled “Kokumo”.
The psychological thriller written by Akinwale Akinyoade follows the life of protagonist Kokumo, who grapples with guilt and seeks solace in a park after a series of tragic events.
Kokumo encounters a mysterious prostitute who challenges his perception of life, death, and redemption.
The seven-minute piece, which is available on YouTube, has been praised for its excellent cinematography and acting brilliance from lead actors Durotimi Okutagidi, who plays Kokumo, and Chinaza Ezeani, who plays the prostitute.
The producers said the film is relatable to a Nigerian audience and will be sure to provoke intellectual discussion amongst film lovers and critics.
The movie was directed by Olamide Sojinu, Adeyinka Otubusin, and produced by the amazing quartet: Onome Agesse-Egbo, Oprah Onyeador, Imarhia Asemota, and Tosin Olaniyi.
Kokumo is filled with suspense, intense conversations, and Africanism.
The project was supported by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Creative Industries Initiative [LACI] under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture.
