Education remains our priority in Yobe – Buni

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has said education remains and will continue to be the priority of his administration.

The governor stated this during a courtesy call by the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, under the leadership of Kashim Imam.

He also said his government is prioritizing primary and secondary education to ensure that no child of Yobe State missed out on education.

According to him, in achieving the said goal, an emergency was declared in the area of education.

While appreciating the interventions of TETFUND to the six tertiary institutions in the state, Mr Buni said: “We appreciate what TETFUND has been doing in Yobe state, but like Oliver Twist, we are asking for more.

“Institutions like the state polytechnic Geidam was almost destroyed by insurgents. But we are doing our best and currently, we are rebuilding the institution.”

On his part, the Chairman, TETFUND Board of Trustees, said this year the Fund would invest N8billion in the six tertiary institutions of Yobe state.

“This is an increase in the intervention of TETFUND in Yobe State institutions,” Mr Imam said.

The chairman, therefore, commended Governor Buni for providing “exceptional leadership in a difficult situation”.
