The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has re-emphasized his readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Army to stem the tide of financial crimes in the public sector.
He gave the assurance through the Commission’s Lagos Zonal Head, Mohammed Rabo, while receiving a delegation led by Kamal Yusuf, Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration, NASFA, Apapa, Lagos on Wednesday.
The EFCC Chair stated that the Commission was always ready and willing to collaborate with the Military in the area of capacity-building, adding that the move by the Military to check corruption in public sector was most impressive.

He further said the Army might wish to leverage on the training facilities and resources at the EFCC Academy in Karu, Abuja for its personnel, while urging the Army in return to give slots to the Commission during training organised for its officials on financial and economic crimes.
Earlier in his remarks, Mr Yusuf stated that it was important for the student-officersof NASFA to undergo training at the Commission to enhance their capacities, adding that “The reason for the visit is to canvass for the EFCCcollaboration in the area of capacity building of the finance officers in the military.
“I find it necessary that we should collaborate with all government agencies and parastatals, that will deal with, particularly in the area of capacity building to assist our officers who are the finance officers in the field.
“I believe that most of the issues bordering on financial and economic crimes are due to ignorance or low-capacity. “What we are requesting is not a standing but an ad-hoc capacity-building collaboration, so that whenever our students come to training in our school, your officials will be available to train them,” he said.
He also identified the expected areas of training to include the focus of the EFCC in the fight against corruption, causes and types of financial crimes and red flags to detect financial crimes, among others.
The Commandant was accompanied on the visit by Lt. Col. S.G. Effiong; Maj. J.O. Lekuti and Capt. K.O. Fatola, Ag. Registrar, NAFSA.
