Zamfara state Police Command says it has made adequate security arrangements to protect lives and properties of citizens in the state.
A statement by the spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu on Friday said strategic places proposed to be manned include praying grounds, shopping malls and recreational centers.
“Following the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations slated for 11th August, 2019, the Zamfara state police command, under the leadership of CP Usman Nagogo, has made adequate security arrangements to guarantee the desired security for the people of Zamfara state, before during and after the celebration.
“The arrangement would cover all the praying grounds, shopping malls and recreational centers where large number of people are expected to gather,” the statement read.
According to Mr Shehu, high visibility patrols, stop and search, intelligence/information gathering as well as raids of criminals hideout would be intensified to ensure peaceful conduct of the celebration.
” Also, safer highway patrol teams have been deployed to all major highways in the state to ensure security and safety of travellers/ commuters.
“The personnel deployed for this critical assignment are under strict instructions of the Police commissioner to be civil and polite in the discharge of their duties.”
The command enjoined members of the public to be law abiding and cooperate with the police personnel deployed to their localities by reporting any incident or strange and suspicious movement to any nearest police station for prompt action.
