Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has ordered for the staging of Fulani Sharo festival (known as shadi) in Gusau and all the local Govt headquarters in the state as part of the oncoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
A statement on Wednesday signed by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on public enlightenment, media and communications, Zailani Bappa, said the gesture was a part of the ongoing peace process in the state.
“This will assure the Fulani of full reintegration into the society as the menace of banditry in the state gradually comes to a total end,” he said.

He added that the event was to further strengthen the social cohesion to return lasting peace and brotherhood among Zamfara populace.
Mr Matawalle added: “It is expected that both Fulani and the Hausa communities will partake in the series of activities to mark this year’s Eid-el-Adha at the weekend including the popular Fulani Sharo in the state.”
He noted that the ongoing peace accord had so far given the Fulani in the state the confidence that the present administration is sincere in its resolve to uphold its own part of the bargain.
“This is to ensure that every aggrieved party will pardon one another for a clean slate in Zamfara State,” he stated.
