Ekpo electrifies Akwa Ibom Christmas Carol Festival

Singer, performer and songwriter, Perfecta Ekpo, was the main attraction at the just-concluded Akwa Ibom Christmas Carol Festival. She deflated the worries of her fans by giving them moments of ecstasy as she gave a rendition of some Christmas songs.

Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Festival, a project of the state government and top telecommunications company, Globacom, was designed to help strengthen the bond of unity in the state as well as create a conducive ambiance for spiritual growth and peaceful co-existence among groups in the state. This year’s edition reached out to people of all walks of life from around the world to join in an evening of praise and worship.

In a conversation with journalists her presentation, the artiste who draws her inspiration from Maria Makeba, then advised young girls, “I tell aspiring artistes in the music industry to keep working hard and never rest on your oars. We are the voice of Africa to the world. Follow your passion and nurture it. Also, find someone who will support you. My husband supports me so much and I appreciate it.

“As an artiste, you have to be abreast of issues, know where your fans are and what they need; also work on your content; find out what people love and, most importantly, devote your time to it.”

Ekpo, who expressed appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel who referred to her as ‘our ambassador,’ for unifying diverse ethnic nationalities that exist in Akwa Ibom State that makes it a cosmopolitan society, which attracts tourists from all parts of the world.
