The Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, on Monday announced the appointment of Dr Aliyu Jafaru as deputy director general Kaduna State Geographical Information Service, KADGIS.
On July 11, the Kaduna State House of Assembly rejected the nomination of Mr Jafaru as commissioner for criticizing Mr El-Rufai’s education policy in the past on Facebook.
Mr Jafaru, 42, was nominated for confirmation as Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture by Mr El-Rufai.
With the exception Mr Jafaru, a lecturer at the Department of Geography of Kaduna State University, all the nominees had been confirmed and sworn-in as commissioners.
But in what appeared a ‘consolation appointment’, the governor appointed him to serve as deputy DG of KADGIS.
The governor also approved the appointments seven new permanent secretaries and five other senior government officials.
A statement by Muyiwa Adekeye, the Special Adviser, Media and Communication to the governor, said “Malam Nasir el-Rufai has approved the appointments of seven new permanent secretaries and senior officials for five agencies.
