The daughter of the leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, popularly known as Shiites, Suhaila Ibrahim El-Zakzaky has called on members of the movement to ignore the suspension order and continue with their street protests.
Recall that on Wednesday, Ibrahim Musa, the president of the media forum of IMN who doubles as the spokesman of the group, had called on the members of the group to suspend its protest, following the recent proscription of the group by the federal government.
Mr Musa explained that the decision was taken out of respect for some eminent people and groups “whose input in the resolution appears genuine.”
However, in a counter-reaction in a viral video, Suhaila El-Zakzaky dismissed the suspension order, urging the IMN members to continue with their street protests in Abuja.
She declared that IMN has not spokesperson, adding that the suspension order reflects the views of Mr Musa, who, she said, does not represent the views of the entire movement.
Mr El-Zakzaky’s daughter who is currently living in Dubai, therefore, alleged that the statement is being used to frustrate the efforts of the ongoing protests.
“I just want to make clarification on claims that the movement has decided not to continue with the protests going on in Abuja, this is not the official view of the Islamic Movement and the protests are continuing.
‘’First of all, the Islamic Movement doesn’t have such thing as a spokesperson and the person who wrote the statement is the chairman of Media forum and also the editor of Almizan Newspaper; and the media forum is just like the numerous forum we have in the Islamic movement,” she noted.
