The Kano State gubernatorial candidate of the Green Party of Nigeria, GPN, Abdussalam Zaura, has promised two million votes for President Muhammadu Buhari, a presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Mr Zaura, popularly known as A. A. Zaura, said he decided to adopt Mr Buhari as his presidential candidate because the president is his role model.
At a press conference in Kano on Saturday, Mr Zaura said President Buhari is a credible and honest politician with integrity that every discerning Nigerian must support.
According to him, his unflinching love for Mr Buhari and his pedigree are what informed his choice to adopt him as his presidential candidate in the February 16 election.
To this end, Mr Zaura stressed that he would try hard to garner 2 million votes to the president.
“I love Buhari even before I joined politics. Even without my candidature, I will vote for Buhari. He is an honest man with integrity. He is my role model, as I copy and practice his leadership style.
“I decided to adopt him as my presidential candidate because of his pedigree. I will try as much as I can to garner 2 million votes for him in the forthcoming presidential election. I also call on my supporters to come out en masse to vote for Buhari,” he said.
On his programmes, if elected as Kano State governor, Mr Zaura revealed that he has 26-point agenda which contains the blueprint of how to restore the lost glory of the state.
According to him, Kano had become a shadow of its former self in terms of economy and infrastructure as a result of bad leadership style by “incompetent” administrations since the return of democracy in 1999.
He added that, if elected, he would make Kano a mini-Dubai through massive investments in infrastructure, economy, health care and security sectors.
He, however, commended Mr Buhari for providing security in the state, noting that the relative peace being enjoyed by the commercial state would pave way for economic prosperity.
“If elected, I will woo foreign investors to invest in the state in order to restore its economic value. I will invest in health and infrastructure. I will also generate 400MW of electricity through renewable energy and waste energy power plant. I will make Kano a mini-Dubai,” he said.
