The management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, has tasked electricity consumers in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states on regular and full payment of their bills to enjoy regular power supply, especially during the Coronavirus lockdown.
The KEDCO’s Head, Corporate Communication Unit, Ibrahim Shawai, in a statement on Tuesday, stressed that regular payment of electricity bills would improve service delivery and, in turn, guarantee customers’ satisfaction.
According to him, by so doing the KEDCO staff would continue to get their pay to encourage them to do their jobs at a critical time like this.
Mr Shawai said: “We promised to deliver on our pledge to support the government by ensuring that people staying at home are comfortable through our improved service delivery which has really culminated into the improved power supply we now have in all our franchise areas. We are keeping our words and this is the way to go.
“In that regard also, the customers are to also support us to ensure that we continue on that lane. We need collaborative efforts to sustain that through regular and full payment of bills. This will help us to keep up with our own responsibilities towards our staff who work relentlessly to guarantee customers’ happiness at a time like this,” the statement added.
The management also dispelled rumours making the rounds that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, customers were no longer expected to pay electricity bills for at least two months.
Mr Shawai said: “This is not true as we have not been informed in that regard. We must all continue to pay our bills so we can keep our business running and to also maintain our pride as a responsible company, especially with regard to salary payment to our numerous staff and other financial obligation to other stakeholders.’’
The statement also quoted the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company, Dr Jamil Gwamna as assuring all customers of continued regular and improved service delivery.
The managing-director stressed that the customers should reciprocate the gesture by paying their bills to “strengthen the capacity of KEDCO to remain proactive in its resolve to make customers comfortable while prioritizing customers’ satisfaction”.
