The Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Adamu, has stripped the Senator Representing Bauchi, South Shehu Buba, of his traditional title of ‘Majidadin Bauchi’ over alleged disrespect to Governor Bala Mohammed.
Mr Buba, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, recently lambasted the governor for criticising President Bola Tinubu during the #EndBadGovernance protests.
Mr Mohammed had described Mr Tinubu’s speech during the protest as empty and faulted some of his economic policies.
He also blamed the president and his party, the APC, for bringing untold hardship to the citizens.
Reacting to the governor’s criticisms of the president, the senator said the “hardship in the country is caused by the PDP”.
“The hardship is caused by the PDP. If anyone says it is the policy of the All Progressives Congress, that is very misleading and fictitious. It is fake and not true. The Federal Government, under the leadership of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, is doing everything possible to rebuild this country.
“I can tell you for free that the Bauchi State government is not even acknowledging and appreciating all the interventions being given by the Federal Government.”
But in a letter dated August 14, and addressed to the senator, the Bauchi Emirate Council announced the removal of Mr Buba as the Mujaddadin Bauchi.
The letter, signed by Nasiru Musa on behalf of the Emirate’s Secretary, said the decision was reached after a meeting of the emirate council.
“At the meeting of the Bauchi emirate council held today, 14/8/2024, under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Bauchi, a thorough review was conducted regarding the recent acts of disobedience and disrespect towards His excellency, the governor of Bauchi State, which is contrary to the conduct and traditions of the Bauchi emirate.
“It is for this reason, that the Emirate resolved to withdraw the traditional title of Mujaddadin Bauchi, which it conferred on you”, the letter read.
