The dethroned emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi ll has been banished Loko village in Nasarawa State, DAILY NIGERIAN has reliably gathered.
The Kano State Executive Council on Monday summoned an emergency meeting to depose the emir for alleged violation of culture and traditions of the state.
The emir, accompanied by a few personal aides and some officials of Kano State Government, arrived at the police wing of Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport on Monday evening.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that he has embarked on road journey to the village, where he would be kept on house arrest.
Recall that hours after Mr Sanusi’s removal, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje approved the appointment of Aminu Ado Bayero as the new emir.
Announcing the new emir at the government house on Monday, in the presence of the four kingmakers,
the Secretary to the State Government, Usman Alhaji, said the appointment was after the state Executive Council resolution.
The SSG said: “Following the resolution of the state executive Council at its emergency council meeting, I have been directed by his Excellency, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, based on the provision of section 11 (1) of the Kano State Emirate Law 2019. Based on the recommendation of the executive council.
“I hereby announcing Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the former emir of Bichi as the new emir of Kano.”
